Accounting Professor Honored by Tennessee Society of CPAs

KNOXVILLE — A University of Tennessee professor has received the 2008 Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education Award from the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA).

The honor went to Dan Murphy, Deloitte & Touche Accounting Professor in the College of Business Administration and head of the college’s Department of Accounting and Information Management.

The award is given annually to an individual in recognition of teaching excellence and active involvement in the accounting profession. The recipient must be a Tennessee CPA and a member of the TSCPA. The committee also considers outreach activities where professional accountants further the profession and public service.
