UT Selected to Host Visiting Professor from Israel

Ready for the WorldUT’s Department of Religious Studies, home of the Fern and Manfred Steinfeld Program in Judaic Studies, has been selected to host a 2008-2009 Schusterman Visiting Israel Professor.

The American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise selects 20 American universities each year to receive grants to appoint a visitor.

Rivka Ribak, senior lecturer in the Department of Communication at the University of Haifa, will arrive at UT this fall. She earned her doctorate in communication from the University of California at San Diego.

Ribak has recently received a grant from the Israel Science Foundation as part of her project (with Michele Rosenthal) on media avoidance, limitation and resistances, entitled "Unplugged."
