KNOXVILLE — When organizations need employees skilled in supply chain strategies, they very often look at graduates from the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

The college ranks No. 1 in several areas of supply chain education, based on a study recently commissioned by the Global Supply Chain Professional Development Committee, a nationwide group.

AMR, a research company, surveyed a cross-section of industries about organizational priorities, gaps and opportunities in educating supply chain professionals.

Of the 167 universities evaluated worldwide, UT ranked first in a number of professional fields among companies recruiting in North America; 71 percent of those companies said they turn to UT when they are recruiting employees for order management, transportation management and distribution management skills.

UT ranked a high second among organizations recruiting employees with skills in supply chain planning and supply chain performance measurement/analytics.

Overall, for all supply chain disciplines, UT was ranked fourth by the hundreds of organizations responding to the survey that recruited in North America for supply chain talent.

“What an honor to be in this prestigious group,” said Ted Stank, interim associate dean for academic programs. “The research confirms what we already know, that we are at the top when companies need professionals having solid planning, delivering and customer management skills.”

Commissioning this research with AMR were Supply Chain Management Review magazine, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals and other industry affiliations.

The UT supply chain programs are not alone in garnering impressive rankings for the college. The college’s undergraduate business curriculum, full-time MBA program, executive MBA programs, Physician Executive MBA, supply chain/logistics curriculum, and undergraduate and master’s accountancy programs have been ranked by U.S. News & World Report, Business Week, Princeton Review, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Modern Physician/Modern Healthcare, EdUniversal, Women 3.0, Kaplan Publishing, CPA Personnel Report, Journal of Business Logistics, Supply Chain Management Review and Forbes.
