“Concurrent” Exhibit Opens Today at Ewing Gallery

"Shaker Bonnet"An exhibit opening today at the Ewing Gallery showcases abstract artwork influenced by the order and chaos of the urban environment.

"Concurrent" includes paintings by Natalie Alper from Boston, Tim McFarlane from Philadelphia and Larry Webb from New York, as well as sculptures by Diane Simpson of Chicago. The four artists have never met, but living in the city has impacted their art. "Concurrent" runs through Dec. 13.

Simpson will give a presentation in conjunction with the exhibit, 7 p.m. tonight in the McCarty Auditorium of the Art + Architecture Building. The presentation is entitled "Body/Builder," and it will be followed by a reception at 8 p.m. in the Ewing Gallery.

 

"Undercurrent"Concurrent was organized by the Samek Art Gallery of Bucknell University and the Ewing Gallery.

The Ewing Gallery is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
