History of the Lady Vols Now Available
In the Footsteps of Champions: The University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers, the First Three Decades, a new book chronicling the history of women’s sports at UT, is on sale now, and several book signing events are planned in Knoxville and around the state.
Former Lady Vols Missy Kane and Sarah Fekete and women’s athletics director Joan Cronan will join author Debby Schriver at a book signing at 2 p.m. tomorrow in rooms 226 and 277 in the University Center. Coach Pat Summitt also is expected to attend a portion of the event. Three other book signings will be held in Knoxville: 6 p.m., Dec. 10, at Barnes and Noble; 1 p.m., Dec. 13, at Books-A-Million; and 4 p.m., Dec. 16, at Carpe Librum.
In the Footsteps includes nearly 300 pages of photos, first-person accounts, features and a foreward by soccer superstar Mia Hamm. The book touches on all women’s sports at UT from basketball and volleyball to rowing and golf.
A Lady Vols fan since 1968, Schriver retired from UT after serving as associate dean of student conduct and orientation and a team leader in the human resources training department. She is now a training consultant and freelance writer.
