UT Knoxville Faculty Member Leads Free Lunchtime Lecture about Identifying Waste in Business Processes
Today’s economy demands that we eliminate waste in our business processes to maximize efficiency and profitability without compromising quality and responsiveness.
Bill Peterson, faculty member in the College of Business Administration’s Center for Executive Education and expert in streamlining organizational waste, will hold a free lunchtime lecture titled “Cutting Costs without Cutting Your Throat: Identifying Waste in Your Business Processes.” The lecture will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, in the Center for Executive Education (Classroom 602) of the James A. Haslam II Business Building, at the corner of Volunteer Boulevard and Andy Holt Avenue on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, campus.
Peterson’s lecture is the second in a series of community brown-bag lectures hosted by UT’s Professional MBA program. These lectures are designed to assist the region’s business community and will be held throughout the year.
Peterson has more than 30 years of industry experience in the aerospace and defense industry applying continuous improvement tools, such as lean and six sigma, to change processes and organizational cultures. He teaches continuous improvement for UT’s executive MBA programs and provides custom training to businesses and industries worldwide.
Peterson created and leads the new Lean Applied to Business Processes program offered by UT’s Center for Executive Education. He also has worked extensively on a Pentagon initiative to improve military efficiencies.
Attendees should bring their lunches. Bottled water, soft drinks and dessert will be provided.
The lecture is free, but space is limited to 45 guests so reservations are required. Please call 865-974-1660. Parking is available in the University Center Parking Garage on Phillip Fulmer Way.
