The Marco Institute for Medieval and Renaissance Studies will host a symposium on “Humanism and Its Economies” March 5-6, 2009.

The symposium takes a fresh interdisciplinary approach to the Renaissance and its re-evaluation of the place of man and woman in the universe. This academic symposium will bring together a group of international scholars to explore how a range of “economies”—both material and symbolic—organized the intellectual cultures of northern European humanists.

The symposium will schedule eight speakers in four panels over two days, as well as a roundtable discussion. All sessions will take place in Hodges Library Auditorium. Attendance is free but registration is required by Friday, Feb. 27.
