School of Art Visiting Artist Lecture Thursday

Helen Frederick, visiting artist in the UT Knoxville School of Art, will give a lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in Room 109 of the Art + Architecture Building.Frederick received the Printmaker Emeritus Award from the Southern Graphics Council in 2008. She studies at the Rhode Island School of Design where she received both her BFA and MFA, and was the Founder of Pyramid Atlanta Art Center in Silver Springs, MD. She is also a Professor of Art at George Mason University.

Frederick works in print, paper, book arts and electronic media. Her work is in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the National Museum of American Art, the National Gallery of Art, the Library of Congress, and The Fogg Museum in Cambridge, Mass., among many others.

Frederick will spend a week in the UT Knoxville Print Workshop working on a project with students and faculty.

Her visit is sponsored by the UT Knoxville School of Art’s Visiting Artists, Scholars and Designers Committee.
