Knoxville Writers Guild April Meeting to Feature Two Poets from UT Knoxville
Two poets from UT Knoxville will make their debut on April 2, as they open the performance for Marilyn Kallet and the Knoxville Writers’ Guild. Josh Robbins, recent winner of the national James Wright Poetry contest, and well-published poet Darren Jackson, editor at UT’s Grist: The Journal for Writers, will perform their poetry. Both are doctoral students in poetry, UT English.
The show starts at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 2, at Laurel Theatre, on the corner of 16th and Laurel Avenue.
The featured performer, Marilyn Kallet, will showcase new poems and poems from Packing Light: New and Selected Poems, Black Widow Press, 2009.
The show will be interactive and will invite audience participation. The performers also will offer advice for writers on how to showcase your own work.
The Knoxville Writers’ Guild monthly meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Poetry can be lively, accessible and fun!
