Learn About Legal Permanent Residence Procedures
The Center for International Education (CIE) will conduct a Legal Permanent Residence (green card) seminar on Monday, March 30. It will be held in the Great Room of the International House from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The seminar will give an overview of the various paths to U.S. legal permanent residency for UT faculty and staff. The seminar will address advantages and disadvantages of each path and typical processing times. In addition, the discussion will include responsibilities for the hiring unit and the beneficiary. The seminar also will highlight problem areas and pitfalls in the process that can cause delays or even stop it.
This seminar is designed for UT hires and interested parties from the hiring unit. It will focus on the university’s policy and practice regarding UT’s sponsorship of “green cards.”
Participants will better understand legal and practical issues when the residency process is initiated. Therefore the seminar is designed to assist department heads, administrative support staff and UT employees hoping that the university will help them with the legal residency process.
