UT Knoxville Engineering Dean Chosen Chair-Elect of Engineering Education Council
KNOXVILLE — Wayne T. Davis, dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has been elected vice chair and chair-elect of the American Society of Engineering Education’s (ASEE) Engineering Research Council for 2009-2010. Davis will serve a two-year term in the post.
Wayne T. DavisThe council’s work focuses on enhancing understanding of issues related to engineering research in the educational setting, and provides research-related program content at ASEE meetings. The organization works to improve the effectiveness of research operations at council member institutions and helps to establish and maintain liaisons with other scientific, engineering and educational organizations.
Founded in 1893, ASEE is a nonprofit association of individuals and institutions committed to furthering engineering education and technology.
Membership in ASEE totals more than 12,000 members, including deans, department heads, faculty members, students and government and industry representatives from all disciplines of engineering and engineering technology. ASEE’s organizational membership includes 400 engineering and engineering technology colleges and affiliates, more than 50 corporations and numerous government agencies and professional associations.
