UT Celebrates ‘Black Music Month’ with Live Music Events
KNOXVILLE — June is Black Music Month and, to celebrate, there will be live music on Thursdays at the Black Cultural Center on University of Tennessee, Knoxville, campus.
On June 4, neo-soul and R&B will be featured; on June 11, the theme will be jazz grooves; on June 18, the Carib Sounds Steel Band will perform; and, on June 25, UT will join forces with the Kuumba Festival to promote the Taste of Africa event at the Knoxville Museum of Art.
Each week, the live music will last from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Free and open to the public, the events are sponsored by the Black Cultural Programming Committee. For more information, call 974-6861.
