Expertise:
Henri Grissino-Mayer is a world leader in dendrochronology, the science of tree rings. In his research, Grissino-Mayer uses information from trees’ annual rings to understand issues from climate change to the frequency of hurricanes, based on the chemical makeup of the rings. Using the rings, he was able to create a 400+ year history of hurricane activity in the southeast U.S. He is also an expert in the intersection between geography and living things, natural and human hazards, soil science and soil geography.
