UT Leads Charge to Smart Grid with $18 Million Award
Kevin Tomsovic, department head of electrical engineering and computer science, and Yilu Liu, Governor’s Chair Professor in electrical engineering and computer science expertise, were featured by several local news outlets for the announcement of their new center which will develop smart-grid technology. The center is being funded by a five-year, $18 million joint National Science Foundation and Department of Energy award which has positioned UT to be at the forefront of President Barack Obama’s plan to overhaul the nation’s energy grid.
