Polymer--so, in simple terms, polymer is just a very very long molecule.
Now, if you look around us -- What is a polymer? -- that's what the normal person will ask
and I will say that we consist of many polymers whether we talk about proteins, our genetic code, DNA--
they all are polymers.
If you talk about materials surrounding us; all these plastics, tires of our cars, many, many other things; they all are polymers.
And one of the interesting phenomena which we want to understand is really how to make efficient way of fuel production from cellulose
because cellulose is very abundant around us.
And it can be used for fuel -- the only problem is the traditional biological processes are very inefficient.
It takes a long time; it costs too much money.
And if we will be able to develop a technology that will make it fast and cheap it can replace oil -- easily.
I think that the overall Governor's Chair program is a very, very powerful program
because it gives me and other Governor's Chairs so many good options in doing research which we think is important.
So all these opportunities which we have can really stimulate our research and progress very significantly.
My research group is usually very diverse.
There are people from all over the world.
And I consider that as really the most important point;
that people see whether they are Iranian or Americans or Chinese or Russians, we all are people who want good for ourselves.
And when these people see each other and talk with each other and go back to their country; that will change the world.
