(voiceover) Morgan Hall is a beautiful, Gothic-style building. Built nearly a century ago, it's the headquarters for UT's Institute of Agriculture.

But when darkness falls and the bureaucrats vacate the place, admittedly old Morgan Hall can get a little spooky.

Our friend Charles Walker is a retired Ag journalist. One night, he was working late...

"...and I was madly typing away, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a man standing in black by the cabinets out in front of my office.

I jumped so hard that my knees hit the keyboard, and needless to say, I spun around in that direction...

...and there was nothing there."

(voiceover) Did Charles have an encounter with the Ghost of Morgan Hall?

Legend has it a grumpy little man wanders these halls at night, dressed in garb from many years ago, including a derby hat.

Why is he grumpy? Why wear a hat indoors? And most importantly, why is he still here?

Reportedly, it's the spirit of a gentleman who passed away while on the job.

Who ya gonna call? Vice President for Agriculture, Dr. Joe DiPietro!

"Chuck, this is ridiculous. Why are we doing this story? We have so much to tell the world about regarding discoveries we've made,

our Extension and Outreach activities, and our educational programming.

There's no ghost in Morgan Hall!"

(Chuck Denny, our narrator) "Morgan Hall has its other creepy elements, too. For instance, the place is covered in old portraits.

And as I walk down these steps, the eyes seem to follow me."

(creepy piano)

(voiceover) Also on the Ag Campus at nearby McCord Hall, in this room where a number of executive decisions are made,

It's numbered "B005." But we think it says, "BOO!"

(creepy piano)

(voiceover) Across campus, several buildings are rumored to be haunted, including former girls' dorm, Strong Hall.

There, the spirit of Sophie Strong is said to float through the hallways of the building named for her.

Ashleigh Moyer was dorm director at Strong for three years. She never saw a ghost, but heard plenty of stories.

"One of the most common ones you hear is that there is a large mirror in the lobby of Strong Hall that Sophie (as we like to call her) would appear in on her birthday,

which is February 17th. And each year, we had a birthday party for Sophie.

which is February 17th. And each year, we had a birthday party for Sophie.

The girls would gather around--but I have to say that there was never a Sophie sighting on her birthday."

(voiceover) As for the Morgan Hall ghost, he might creep people out, but doesn't appear harmful.

But we do offer this warning: if you visit UT this Halloween, do so with caution.

You may not believe in ghosts, but there are some who like college so much, they never want to leave.

This is Chuck Denny reporting.
