We're here in the Atlanta airport about to take off to Peru in about 20 minutes
and we're going to be down there setting up a health care clinic
for the Peruvian people.
Some of us are going to be out in the communities
in like three or four different communities
we actually found out that we're going to be working in an ER with one of the doctors here
that works in the hospital.
So tomorrow we'll have different student groups with faculty
and with a local doctor coming and we'll treat patients
and see them and talk to them and do full assessments on them.
So we're handing out our first prescription of the clinic right now.
We're very excited we're giving amoxicillin and acetaminophen.
[oohing and aahing]
Today is a very special day because we are going to visit house by house
to invite the people to come to the clinic.
The students are going to choose the patients that we're going to be seeing
and they will have to work very hard today
because they have to climb very high up.
We just got done doing some home visits in a part of Lima the capital
where, I don't know, we just went to houses and talked to people
and tried to get health histories
and see if they needed help with certain illnesses
and give them an appointment so they can come to the clinic
and be seen by a health professional.
