This year we are going to feature eleven oral presentations

who has been looking at wireless electricity, devising techniques for transmission,

These were selected out of a total of thirty papers that were selected

so the ones that are speaking are really the best of the best.

They range in topics from environmental science to life science

to medicine, physical science, engineering,

even math and computer science. So at one end of the spectrum you have a student from Oak Ridge

who has devised mathematical models for fluid simulation.

So for some of the judges who aren't math oriented, it kind of scares them a little bit.

It is really quite sophisticated. Then on the other end you have a student from Cleveland High School

that was looking at sedimentation in creeks and is more environmentally geared.

And so she actually went out and did testing of creeks around her house.

Then we have another student from middle Tennessee

who has been looking at wireless electricity, devising techniques for transmission,

testing frequencies and how that affects that.

So she is more interested in the engineering and practical aspects.

But they all have one thing in common. They are all bright students,

very driven, very creative. And the judges are tenured faculty or tenure-track faculty at UT

and they are always blown away by how good these kids are.
