Died December 26, 2008 in Knoxville, TN.

Oakley taught elementary school, teaching Creative Learning in a Unique Environment (CLUE), a program for gifted students, with the Knoxville City Schools. At Fort Sanders Hospital she served many years as a pink lady. She received her bachelor’s degree from the College of Arts and Sciences.
