Taylor to Lead UT’s Black Alumni Council

Johnny TaylorJohnny Taylor III (’07) was appointed president of UT’s Black Alumni Council in March.

The Black Alumni Council was established to serve the African-American alumni, the UT community and to promote the University of Tennessee. The council works in partnership with the Office of Alumni Affairs to maximize black alumni participation in the life of the university by providing relevant programming. The organization has been in existence since the early 1980s

A commercial relations manager with SunTrust Bank, Taylor is active with Alpha Phi Alpha Mu Iota, Knoxville Area Urban League Young Professionals, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, and the INROADS program.

The council’s executive leadership board consists of William Arnold (’96), Chris Jones (’08), Lillian Jackson (’89), Tiffany Herd (’99), and Chad Fulton (’05). The council’s primary purpose is to provide social, professional, and personal developmental programs for more than 6,000 alumni of color.
