John Hubbard graduated with a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Tennessee in 1983. He is now the global president of ICON. ICON Clinical Research specializes in the planning management, execution and analysis of Phase IIb—IV clinical trials, ranging from small studies to complex, multinational projects.

Hubbard has authored or co-authored three book chapters and 76 published articles and abstracts in the areas of cardiovascular/autonomic pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, and drug development.

During his visit to UT, Hubbard was the featured speaker at an Accomplished Alumni luncheon. Several psychology faculty members were in attendance as well as graduate students, UT staff and administrators, and some of Hubbard’s fellow alumni. Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek presented Hubbard with the Accomplished Alumni Award.

Hubbard was also a special guest for the Department of Psychology’s Annual Awards Day events. He was able to spend some time with graduate students who recently benefited from a gift donated by Hubbard and his wife, Jeanne. Graduate students shared research with Hubbard that they presented at conferences they were able to attend as a result of his gift.
