Nashville Newsman Offers Advice

Lelan Statom (’86) is an Emmy-award-winning meteorologist and talk show host for NewsChannel 5 in Nashville. Statom visited campus on Friday, June 12, to participate in the Accomplished Alumni Program.
Statom spoke to a group of 55 students participating in the UT LEAD Summer Institute at a dinner held in his honor in the University Center. During his speech, Statom talked about his UT experience and his career in television, and he offered advice on college and career success. Statom was joined by his wife, Yolanda, who is an alumna of the University of Tennessee.

I met Lelan my freshman year living in Hess Hall while he was an RA. He’s a great guy and I’m glad to see him honored this way.
Lelan was a good friend of mine during our UT days. I am so proud of his success and ability to give back to the university!
