Frances Lillian Irwin Askew, of Memphis, Tennessee, died October 6, 2009. She went to Bethel College one year, obtaining a life time teaching certificate and later graduated from the University of Tennessee, receiving her bachelor’s degree from the College of Home Economics. Following WWII Frances and her husband settled in Corinth, Mississippi. She taught at a rural school in the Gift community and then at East Corinth Elementary. They moved to Memphis in 1996. Always the learner, Frances attended Austin Peay University, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Notre Dame and Memphis Academy of Arts and eventually graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Eduation from Bethel.
