Charles F. Niles, Jr., of Haines City, FL, died January 15, 2010. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Engineering and his master’s degree from Purdue University. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and received his Midshipman training at Notre Dame and graduated from Radar School at both Harvard University and M.I.T. Mr. Niles’ profession as a civil engineer brought him many awards and accolades, such as the prestigious Bedell Award.

  1. My father also won the John M. Allen prize in Mathematics at UT in 1939 as a freshman.
    A small list of notable accomplishments. Civil Engineers may also recognize the “Tumble Bug Award”, designed by Mr. Niles.
