UT, Comcast Team Up
Web Exclusive
UT has partnered with Comcast Cable to launch UTTV. The station is on Comcast’s digital network—channel 194, seen by about 60,000 subscribers in the Knoxville area. Some 7,000 students who live on campus also have access to the station via campus channel 65.
The station features news and cultural and academic programming produced by UT’s Video and Photography Center, a department of the Office of Public Relations.
"Along with providing a wonderful window for others to learn about the university’s teaching and research, the partnership provides an opportunity to grow student programming and provide experiences through the new channel,” Chancellor Loren Crabtree said. Students from the College of Communication and Information are involved in show development and production.
Crabtree hosts a UTTV talk show that showcases campus people and events. Upcoming programs will include a documentary on the UT choir, which recently performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, and a student-produced show, Freshman Diary, that will follow new students as they experience college life. Also planned are programs spotlighting the UT Space Institute in Tullahoma, UT’s Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy, and the university’s new freshman seminars.
Visit the UTTV website for a list of current programming, schedule, and more.
