It Was a Bayou Bash

Homecoming 2007 was everything it should be—beautiful autumn weather, a big football victory, and lots of old friends.

The Nov. 2–3 festivities followed the theme, Smokey’s Bayou Bash, which was derived from the Vols’ football opponent, the Ragin’ Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Festivities began with the traditional Homecoming parade on Friday afternoon. Celebrating our Heroes, Past and Present, the weekend’s featured event, honored all military alumni. Military alumni gathered for a dinner on Friday night and were honored on the field at halftime of Saturday’s football game. More than 500 alumni and friends enjoyed Party in the Park, the annual barbeque lunch in Circle Park, which featured live entertainment and exhibits from various colleges and departments.

The football team provided the perfect touch, “bashing” the Ragin’ Cajuns 59-7.
