UT's Got Earning Power

Astudy by UT Knoxville’s Center for Business and Economic Research found graduates of the UT system earn, on average, higher wages than graduates from the state’s other public colleges and universities. The study also found students who attend Tennessee’s public community colleges are more likely to remain in the state to work after graduation than people who attend other public colleges or universities in Tennessee.

Graduates of UT campuses earned an average of $31,104 three quarters (nine months) after graduating while graduates of Tennessee Board of Regents schools earned $31,815. By 25 quarters (6.25 years) after graduation, UT graduates earned an average of $48,086 while TBR graduates earned $45,164.

Among UT graduates with bachelor’s degrees, those from the Health Science Center had the highest average salary after three quarters at $43,815, followed by Knoxville at $30,904, Chattanooga at $30,849 and Martin at $29,898.

(The study used quarters instead of years or months. A quarter equals three months).
