Dean Rutledge Eichelberger, of Newport News, VA, died February 2, 2012. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree from the College of Business Administration. As a member of the UT baseball team, he served as the team captain and was named to the all SEC team.

Jamie Haines James, of Loudon, TN, died February 3, 2012. She earned a bachelor’s degree (1967) and a master’s degree (1973) from the University of Tennessee, College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. Mrs. James was a retired teacher, having educated children in the Loudon County School System for more than 23 years.

Marcia Jane Sparks Jennings, Augusta, GA, died January 29, 2012. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, College of Arts and Sciences, a master’s degree from the University of Georgia, and was a registered dietitian.

George Thomas Bowden, of Maryville, TN, died January 27, 2012. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree from the College of Business Administration, was a 1st Lieutenant in the Tennessee National Guards, and retired from CSX Transportation after 37 years of service.

Dana Matthew Cowell, of Stockton, CA, died January 21, 2012. He earned a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee and worked for 26 years with the California Department of Transportation in the Sacramento, Marysville, Stockton and Oakland districts. He served as Deputy District Director, Planning and Local Assistance.

Mary Jane Cantrell, of Mountain Home, AR, died November 11, 2011. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree from the College of Arts and Sciences and was an educator by profession.

Lula Belle O’Dell, of Knoxville, died January 19, 2012. She retired from the University of Tennessee, Alumni Affairs, after 31 years of service.

Brian McKensie Southern, of East Greenwich, RI, died December 16, 2011. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree from the College of Engineering and had a professional career as a chemical engineer.

Michael C. Bell, of Dyer, TN, died August 26, 2011. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree (1986) and a master’s degree (2007) both from the College of Engineering.
