William Joseph Boyd, III, of Arlington, TN, died September 18, 2011. He earned two doctor’s degrees, (1965, 1974) from the University of Tennessee, both from the College of Arts and Sciences. He retired from Buckeye Cellulose.

Students were presented with their new official UT rings during the second Official Ring Ceremony on November 10.

The Young Alumni Program is celebrating the month of October with the second annual VoltoberFest. Events are planned in Knoxville, Nashville, Atlanta, and Raleigh.

Inky Johnson, a former Vol who suffered a life-threatening injury on the football field in 2006, will discuss his autobiography during this fall’s Young Alumni Weekend, set for October 14–15.

Summer events for recent grads are in full swing, including community service and trivia events in Knoxville and a comedy event in Atlanta.

More than 240 young alumni came back to campus for the annual spring Young Alumni Weekend—the most attendees in the program’s history. Proceeds from the event went to the Young Alumni Scholarship.
