Jimmy G. Cheek, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s new chancellor, won’t have to toss all of his orange ties, but he may want to let Goodwill have any that are stained with Gator blue.
What are UT freshmen like? We asked a group of UT freshmen to tell us a bit about themselves.
Pat Summitt and Bruce Pearl. You would almost have to be a space alien not to know about the Lady Vols and Vols head basketball coaches. They’re on TV, they’re in Sports Illustrated, they turn up at your United Way or your alumni chapter meeting. They’re charismatic, competent, and competitive right down to their toenails. And, wonder of wonders, they not only get along, they even like each other.
In the 2008 Summer Olympics, Tennessee Volunteers weren’t just orange. They were also gold and silver. Four current students and 12 former students participated in the games. Collectively, they brought home three gold and three silver medals.
