Notable Alumni: Justice Gary Wade

Justice Wade was appointed to the Tennessee Court of Appeals in 1987, and was elected and served as Presiding Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals from 1998-2006. He was then appointed and currently serves as an Associate Justice on the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Justice Lee served as the city attorney for several Tennessee cities, and was appointed to the Tennessee Court of Appeals in 2004. In 2008, she was appointed to the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Chief Judge Curtis Wagner, Jr., has been an Administrative Law Judge at Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) since 1974, and has been Chief Judge since 1978. He has received numerous awards including the Department of the Army’s highest award, the Decoration For Exceptional Civilian Service.

Jessie Wooten Harris (1908) was dean of the UT College of Home Economics in Knoxville. She was chief of the community nutrition division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and president of the American Home Economics Association.
