Daily Campus Update for March 16

March 16, 2020

A Message from the Chancellor

Volunteer community,

Earlier this evening, we announced the difficult decision to continue with online-only coursework through the end of the semester and cancel all events, including commencement. You can read more about this decision in my messages to students and to faculty and staff.

What we do in the coming weeks and months will define us forever. This is an opportunity to show what it truly means to be a Volunteer—to make sacrifices for the greater good, to shadow ourselves and give light to others.

Students Will Receive Additional Guidance

Leadership is working through a number of issues, including how reimbursements will be handled, and will be communicating those decisions as they are made. Students should look for more details from Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Life Frank Cuevas tomorrow regarding residence hall move-out logistics and other resources.

Updated FAQs

Throughout the day, a team has been updating the FAQs on utk.edu/coronavirus with new information. Be sure to check this page regularly.

Research Operations Scaling Down

Interim Vice Chancellor for Research Matthew Mench sent an email to research faculty and staff about moving toward a minimized state of ongoing research and interaction.
