Support for International Students

July 13, 2020

Changes to federal policy about international students and online courses have caused concern among many in the campus community. This is an especially difficult and challenging time for international students, and they need our support.

International students travel from long distances, often leaving their families, to come to UT. Many come alone to an unfamiliar place where they must learn a new culture in addition to their academic work. The university has approximately 1,060 international students representing 95 countries. They are scholars, contributors to campus life, and valued members of the Volunteer family. They are welcome here now and always.

The Center for Global Engagement will work with international students to help them have a meaningful educational experience and continue to study at the university. Options include hybrid courses, independent study, graduate seminars, and research courses. Please inform international students about the resources through CGE and let them know they are supported and valued at the University of Tennessee.

In addition, CGE will share information and have updates on its website to help you stay informed about this important issue.
