Studying at UT

Unrivaled academics

At UT, our nationally recognized art and performance programs will equip you with the knowledge, experience, and skills you need to have a successful career. Our School of Art, for example, is in the top 20 schools in the country. We are also home to one of only 12 League of Resident Theatre (LORT) programs in the United States and the only public college of music in the Southeastern Conference. Volunteers involved in art and performance programs might have the opportunity to learn from professors who are at the top of their fields—some of whom have earned Emmy or Grammy awards or Oscar nominations.

Preparation for life after graduation

As a Volunteer, you’ll gain hands-on, real-world experience that will set you up for success after graduation and involve you in the local community. In fact, music students have the opportunity to give lessons to individuals, groups, and ensembles through the University Community Music School. And sculpture students have had the chance to partner with a nearby elementary school where they experienced installing their work outdoors for the first time.

Learn around the world

Vols also have opportunities to study and perform abroad. Art and performance students have traveled to London to sing in St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, studied film sites in  Berlin, and analyzed contemporary art and fashion in Milan.
